01 Jun 10 things you need to know when using social media to grow your business

It has become a truth universally acknowledged that using social media networks to engage with customers has become an absolute necessity for any business. Growing a brand, a product or a service has become almost impossible to do without an online presence and at least one social media platform like Facebook. But, there are 10 basic things one needs to know before embarking on this adventure.

  1. Most social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, You Tube and others, are free to use, but they also have paid advertising options to help businesses reach more potential customers.
  2. Whilst there are loads of social media networks, this does not mean that your business should be on all of them.
  3. Choosing which ones to be on depends on the nature of your business, who your target audience is and, the goals you would like to achieve with your online presence. There’s also an argument to be made, against spreading your resources to thin.
  4. Each platform is ideal for one thing or another, but for certain countries like Malta, there’s an undeniable truth – Facebook is stronger than any other social media platform! But if you’re still not convinced that it’s worth investing the time, effort and perhaps the money to create a social media presence for your business, read this.
  5. Facebook is the biggest social network, not only in Malta but also around the world. This is true both in terms of users as well as brand recognition.
  6. To date Facebook has more than 1.55 billion active users, and it can be used to successfully market businesses of any size.
  7. In 2014, Malta ranked 3rd in the world for active social media penetration.
  8. 58% of the Maltese Internet users area active on social media, particularly Facebook.
  9. Before you can use Facebook for your business you need to have solid knowledge of some Facebook basics. For example, you need to know that without a personal Facebook account, you cannot create a Facebook page for your business.
  10. If you’re completely new to Facebook or would like a tutorial on how to use it better, whether for personal or business purposes, you can contact us for a one to one tutorial or a group training session.
